A middle-distance runner from Eldoret who had never seen snow, Philip Boit became the first Kenyan ever to compete at a Winter Olympics, a three-time Olympian and three-time flag bearer who opened the door for every Kenyan winter athlete who followed.

Known as the "Snow Leopard," Sabrina Simader is one of the most influential figures in African winter sports, the first African woman to race the Alpine World Cup circuit and to compete in Olympic alpine skiing, now an advocate for the athletes who follow her.

Issa Gachingiri Laborde
Olympian · Kenya's Flag Bearer, Milano Cortina 2026
Raised in the French Alps by a Kenyan mother and a French father, Issa chose to race for Kenya, and at just 18 carried the national flag at the Milano Cortina 2026 opening ceremony, one of the youngest flag bearers in Kenya's Olympic history.
